How does Gennai find my invoices?
Connect Gmail, Outlook or any IMAP inbox once and Gennai checks it every hour for new invoices and receipts. It reads PDF attachments and also invoices that arrive inside the body of an email, not only the ones sent as a file. Anything that does not arrive by email you can forward, share from Slack or WhatsApp, or upload yourself.
Can Gennai find invoices from previous months?
Yes. Pick any date range in the past and Gennai works back through your inbox to pull out the invoices you received months or even years ago and never filed. The scan runs in the background, so you can keep using Gennai while your history fills in.
What happens after an invoice is captured?
Capturing it is only the start. Gennai keeps every invoice in one place with its payment status up to date, so your accounts payable are always current: what is paid, what is still owed, and what is due next. It also categorizes each supplier the way your accounting software already does, matches your bank statement against the invoices, and sends them to Xero, QuickBooks or Holded with the original document attached.
Which accounting platforms does Gennai integrate with?
Gennai exports to Xero, QuickBooks Online and Holded, with the supplier matched, the account and tax rate filled in and the original PDF attached to the bill. It also syncs your invoices to Google Drive or OneDrive, filed by year and month, and keeps a Google Sheet up to date. For anything else there is CSV and Excel export with the columns you choose.
Do I need to connect my email account?
No. Connecting Gmail, Outlook or an IMAP inbox is what makes Gennai run on its own, but it is optional. Every account also gets a private forwarding address for one-off invoices, and you can always upload PDFs by hand or share them from Slack or WhatsApp.
Can I use Gennai without giving inbox access?
Yes. You can run Gennai entirely on forwarded invoices, manual uploads and Slack or WhatsApp, without connecting a mailbox at all. And if you do connect one, the access is read-only and used only to find invoices: Gennai cannot send, delete or modify email, and you can disconnect any account in one click.
Can I try Gennai for free?
Yes. The free plan is free forever and includes 10 invoices a month and 2 connected inboxes, with no credit card to start. Paid plans start at $12 a month, and everything you captured on the free plan stays in your account when you upgrade.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Email connections use OAuth 2.0, so Gennai never sees your password, and every token we store is encrypted. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest with AES-256, Gennai is CASA Tier 2 verified through the App Defense Alliance, and your invoices are never used to train AI models and never sold.
